Why Pilates? (Mat or Reformer)

I am passionate about “movement” and believe that being able to move freely throughout our whole life is essential to overall wellbeing and mental health.

  • Pilates offers a unique blend of mental and physical benefits.

  • Pilates improves posture, aligns your body, increases flexibility, core strength, balance and coordination, helps prevent injuries and rehabilitate from them.

  • Do you want to be able to get down on the floor to play with your grandchildren now or one day or continue to exercise well into my 70s or 80s?

  • Pilates has huge metal health benefits due to it being a “mindful activity” as it emphasises the connection between body and mind through controlled movements, focused breathing and concentration.

  • When you are doing Pilates you need to think of nothing else! The emphasis on breathing encourages relaxation and staying in the moment, making it not only a physical workout but also a mental one. This mindful aspect helps reduce any stress and improves mental clarity.

  • It is a low impact full body workout suitable for all ages and abilities that can be modified for your own needs.

Pilates Mat and / or Reformer

  • Mat Pilates: Performed on a mat, using the body's own weight for resistance. This form emphasizes core strength, flexibility, and balance.

  • Reformer Pilates: Done using a specialized machine called the Reformer, which provides adjustable resistance through springs, helping to target specific muscle groups more effectively.

I incorporate various props including balls, bands, magic circles and weights depending on the exercise and individual client.
